LILYA Moroccan Lounge and Bar
June 6, 2017
Inspired by Marrakesh’s raids, LILYA Moroccan Lounge and Bar adds a sensual flavour to Hong Kong’s late-night scene.
Tucked away on the second floor overlooking Wyndham Street’s bustling scene, the lounge transports guests to an exotic hideout in Marrakesh, perfect for relaxing after-work drinks, a night out with friends or an intimate cocktail and dinner date.
A tribute to Morocco’s exotic nature and passion, the newly opened LILYA creates a fully immersive experience of the stunning country from traditional design details, extravagant cocktails, authentic homemade cuisine and Arabic beats, to a team of native Moroccans from the ‘red city’, to guarantee classic Moroccan hospitality.
The experience begins as soon as guests step out of the lift and are welcomed with a wall of traditional Babouche slippers in flamboyant colours.
Walking into the earthy red and orange lounge, representing Marrakesh, guests are drawn in by the welcoming atmosphere with low cozy lush couches and poufs and elegant ornate pillows.
Not to be missed is the eye-catching wall of silk tassels, mystical Fatima hands, elegant Arabic graphics that adorn the walls, handcrafted doors to the terrace, and luxurious mosaic
zellige tiles from Fez that define the space which General Manager Tom Brusse can explain in full detail.
The grand, ornate brass covered lamp is the ceiling centerpiece of the lounge, designed and crafted by legendary Yahya Rouach the highly-praised Marrakech artist who creates for King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
Continuing the lounge’s rhythm of vivid diversity and elegance, the drinks crafted by award-wining mixologist Younes Ateyah feature typical Moroccan ingredients served in custom-made engraved glasses and traditional teapots.
For the perfect accompaniment to the drinks, Head Chef Ahmed Boulalam created a menu of authentic Moroccan cuisine to be shared.
All dishes use traditional cooking styles such as Agadir tagines and Tangeroise baking a 14-hour slow cook, together with spices from Mellah including cardamom, cumin, nutmeg, saffron and ginger.
The 90-seater lounge consists of a main seating and bar area, a terrace and a private room which can accommodate up to 15 guests.
LILYA connects guests to the Moroccan culture and heritage, while starting conversations about Arabian legends.
