Audio Files #2 Robert Owens in Hong Kong
August 23, 2017
Launching this summer in Hong Kong, ” Audio Files ” is a vibrant showcase served with a side of hospitality, created to connect iconic producers, musicians, visual artists and audio enthusiasts through a shared passion for music and high quality immersive sound.
Housed in Duddell’s, a destination at the vanguard of cultural and social interaction, ” Audio Files ” is a fresh initiative from leading hospitality group JIA and KEF the esteemed British manufacturer of premium audio products.
Delivered in three parts, the upstairs Salon and Garden Terrace of Duddell’s will be transformed via a series of curated events and performances crafted to give Hong Kong’s in-tune community access to several state of the art listening experiences found both within Duddell’s and nine floors above, at KEF Music Gallery.
In a step away from the traditional concert format, ” Audio Files #1, #2 and #3 “, presents a rare opportunity for enthusiasts to directly engage with industry professionals within a unique social environment, one where the boundaries between performer and listener are blurred.
” Audio Files #1 ” will open to the public on Friday July 28th, with international DJs United Future Organisation ( UFO ) arriving from Tokyo, who are best known for their dance floor jazz originals. They will be supported by local DJ Sweet Talk and Ivan AKA Mr. Sit.
Saturday August 26th welcomes American songwriter, record producer, DJ and singer, Robert Owens to the city. Hailing from Chicago and traveling exclusively for ” Audio Files #2 “, this solo artist was at the forefront of the evolution of house music.
With several number one hits on the international club charts, including “ I’ll be your Friend ” and “ Mine To Give ”, and vocals on Frankie Knuckles mega hit “ Tears ”, this heavyweight will be joined by the Fresh Off The Boat Asia DJ’s. A bespoke visual showcase by Totoro Typhoon will further explore the intertwined relationship that exists between the audio and visual.
” Audio Files #3 ” on Friday September 29th rounds out the series, a night where some of the city’s most talented musicians will unite together as a quintet to perform jazz and blues under the name of ” Wong Way Down “. Iconic Hong Kong DJ Kulu, who ran an Edinburgh jazz club many decades ago will join the live event with his original jazz funk fusion selections.
