Treat your skin – Sun Chlorella
May 14, 2018
Sun Chlorella Cream® is a luxurious facial moisturiser designed to promote skin that glows from the inside out. Once Japan’s best kept beauty secret, Sun Chlorella Cream® is the world’s first facial moisturiser to harness the unique power of chlorella – the natural green algae rich in vitamins and nutrients – to help maintain healthy skin. Sun Chlorella Cream® is paraben-free and has a pure aqua and natural chlorella base to keep skin hydrated and healthy.
As a big beauty cream fan (in particular natural and plant based skincare such as Dr Botanics, Liz Earle, Noto & Pai), I was extremely eager to check this product out. I’d never heard of Sun Chlorella before – but my first thoughts of the branding were ‘what an unusual name’, it doesn’t scream out luxury when you hear it, but then I did some research into Chlorella and found out that it actually is extremely beneficial for our bodies.
Studies have shown that chlorella benefits the entire body by supporting healthy hormonal function, promoting cardiovascular health, helping to negate the effects of chemotherapy and radiation, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, and aiding in the detoxification of our bodies.
When the package arrived I was pleased to see such wonderful packaging, simple and a light green colour, the pot was a good size and it came with a handy spatula to ensure no germs were passed to the cream. Although the cream had a slight green tinge, it was expected because all the supplements that go into this are green.
The smell, texture and feel of the cream on my skin is wonderful, I felt a firming effect straight away over my face and neck and one applied, the green disappears. In my mind I associate green with health, nature and it’s also good for mitigating redness. Chlorella has a very high concentration of chlorophyll.
The gentle rose scent is an absolutely sensory treat and the cream is medium verging on lightweight, absorbing quickly. When I use the cream at night I can feel it fortifying my skin’s barrier to keep me from losing essential moisture to the try air overnight in my house.
In the space of a week my skin has definitely felt more hydrated and supple – but I’m going to keep on using the cream and monitoring the effects that this has on my skin over the next month. I believe it takes several months to truly see changes from a facial cream and will continue to review this via my Instagram channel: @kayacheyennee . It would be great if the product had SPF in it and that would be my only real form of feedback, but that’s just because if it’s benefiting your health sun protection should also be on there.
The company, Sun Chlorella has been a world leader in chlorella health products since 1969 and although most of the press surrounding Sun Chlorella has been generated by the health food world, the fact this business is looking to change that and make a mark in the beauty industry is extremely impressive.
Skin supplement creams like this are the future – so if you’re looking for a new moisturiser, head this direction. Celebrity fans include Miranda Kerr, Jennifer Aniston & Victoria Beckham. Why? Because it benefits your skin, hair and nails all at once.
